Challenges to Mental Health

We are all living in an era where human beings have been facing numerous health challenges. But, the monster of deteriorating mental health has downplayed the other ones.
Regularly, people are getting victims of this menace. Hundreds have been paralyzed while dozens have been surrendered their lives to this illness in the name of self-help.
Though the challenge is not a new one but its severity in current times is a major headache.
Here a question rises why humans are so anxious in the most sophisticated periods of their history.
The answer lies in the very core of this question. The fanciful world of today's time is due to nexus of capitalism, modernization and globalization.
On one hand, these three notions have given a charismatic look to life while they have also disrupted the very core foundations of a peaceful stint in the world on the other hand.
In a capitalist-dominated curriculum, a kid at school level learns that the essentials of leading a peaceful, successful, and happy life are attainment of absolute power and accumulation of great wealth and property. Therefore, one gets idea of giving paramount importance to material gains and keeping them above everything in life.
When a person equipped with such approach enters into realm of practical life, he starts searching for contentment in affluence. In this race, his ultr-assidious approach leaves minimal room for leisure time and social connection. Hence, one gets alienated and debarred from tranquility.
Then, modernity has also not fulfilled all its promises. Those who do not get the dream lifestyle of modern times find themselves in a vicious cycle of an inferiority complex which leads them to depression and anxiety.
Meanwhile, the others who fail to attain the desired joy despite getting a lavish life fall prey to tumultuous situation about which they have no clue.
Globalization has also part in the disturbance of peace of mind. It has brought the cultures and communities very close to one another. One who has been failing to make his livelihood is interacting and comparing his way of living with those who have private jets and air planes. Simply, the cultural assimilation becomes a breeding ground of inferiority complex.
In addition, the stigma attached to the illness of mental health leaves its patients in the lurch. They always try to hide their ailment and put themselves in the most uncomfortable situation.
Most importantly, even if an individual dares to get help from the professionals, he either doesn't find the right mentor or cannot afford the fees.
The whole idea does not summarize all the reasons of growing crisis of mental health. Surely, there are serious medical reasons of mental health issues yet the unprecedented surge can be better understood through this lens.
To cope this challenge, we have to realign our beliefs and priorities of lives. There is need to understand the true vitality of mental health. Instead of putting it at stakes, we have to bear in minds that the true success is the peace of mind.
